Please prepare 16 bars from a Broadway piece in the style of this show.  Selections from Evita are acceptable. Please bring sheet music in the correct key.  An accompanist will be provided. No pre-recorded accompaniment will be allowed. Dependent on time, the auditions may also include readings from the script. 

NOTE: There will be a dance portion of auditions following singing. Please bring appropriate movement attire and shoes.  We are seeking strong singers and dancers of all races, genders, shapes and sizes. Not all roles will require callback auditions. Those needed for callbacks will be notified by the Director.

Evita follows the young and ambitious Eva Peron’s meteoric rise to sainthood. Set in Argentina between 1934-1952, the Tony-winning musical follows Eva Duarte on her journey from poor illegitimate child to ambitious actress to, as wife of military leader-turned-president Juan Peron, the most powerful woman in Latin America, before her death from cancer at age 33. The events in Evita’s life are presented in song by the show’s narrator, Che Guervara. Well-known numbers from Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical masterpiece include “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “Oh What a Circus,” “Buenos Aires” and “Another Suitcase in Another Hall.”


EVA PERON: (plays 18-33) Seeking a strong actress/singer who moves well to portray the beautiful, ambitious title role who rises from poor obscurity to become the First Lady of Argentina; Legit/Pop Mezzo with clear, strong mix that can belt to a high G. Vocal stamina a must.  


CHE: (18-35) Seeking a strong actor/singer to play political activist and narrator of the show, a radical who isn’t reluctant to ask tough questions and demand answers; high, rock, pop or legit tenor voice that can sing a low A to high B, falsetto to high F. 


JUAN PERON: (25-50) An officer in the Argentinean army who rises to become the Argentine President. He is a man who is dignified, charming, and authoritative. Seeking a strong leading man/singer; Legit bass/baritone to high F. 


MISTRESS: (16-25) Seeking a young actress/singer who moves well to play Juan Peron’s beautiful, vulnerable teenaged Mistress. This role will also appear in the Ensemble. Light Pop soprano low A to a high E. 


MAGALDI: (30 – 40) Seeking a comedic character actor/singer to play down on his luck tango singer with whom Eva has her first love affair. This role may also appear in the Ensemble. Legit high tenor to G (& above). Open to a singer/musician who is able to play live while singing.


ADULT ENSEMBLE: (18-55) Seeking a broad range triple threat performers to play everything from Generals to Peasants and be part of a fully featured, versatile ensemble. Seeking Singers who Move, Singers who Dance and Dancers who Sing.
